Our health education platform provides a unique path to wellness. We strive to increase awareness about the significance of stable healthcare, clean water, sanitation, and reducing hunger in underserved communities.
Who Are We?
We are four students from the Summer 2025 Global Leaders Academy is led by the NYC Department of Education in partnership with the United Nations and aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our names are Yumna Chowdhury, Aqsa Hassan, Saira Imran, and Musaffa Siddiqi. This website was created as part of our initiative to raise awareness about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our primary focus is on SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, while also addressing related goals such as Zero Hunger and Clean Water and Sanitation. Through this platform, we aim to educate, inspire action, and contribute to a healthier, more equitable world.
We have chosen to focus on the following Sustainable Development Goals:
Goal#6: Clean Water and Sanitation
Goal#3: Good Health and Well-Being
Goal #2: Zero Hunger
Our primary focus is on Good Health and Well-Being (Goal #3), while Goals #2 and #6 serve as subgoals that significantly contribute to unhealthy lifestyles. These goals are interconnected, and addressing them will enhance our overall aim of providing quality healthcare for underserved communities. By promoting and taking action on Goals #2 and #6, we can improve health outcomes and well-being overall.
Ensuring that everyone has equal access to nutrition and food security while promoting sustainable agriculture is essential for ending hunger and improving overall health.
Everyone should have equal access to high-quality healthcare without discrimination, ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for individuals of all ages.
Ensure equal access to safe, sanitary, drinkable, and sustainable water.
Mission:
We aim to raise awareness about the importance of stable, quality healthcare, access to clean water and sanitation, and the need to reduce hunger in underprivileged communities.
Vision:
We envision a future where partnerships provide essential resources to support these communities. Our goal is to equip them with the necessary tools to regain their footing and offer them a second chance. We aspire to be leaders for those who cannot speak for themselves.
Values:
Helping all people in need
Inclusivity
Underprivileged communities lacking health care
Clean and affordable resources such as water
How do hunger, poor healthcare, and dirty water make life harder for refugees?
Refugees often live in crowded camps or underserved areas where they don't have enough food, clean water, or medical help. Hunger makes people weak and sick, especially children. Dirty water can cause diseases like diarrhea and cholera. Without good healthcare, people can't get the medicine or treatment they need when they are sick or injured.
How does warfare affect an individual's fundamental rights and necessities?
Warfare harms people by taking away their fundamental rights and needs. It can destroy homes, hospitals, and schools, leaving people without food, clean water, healthcare, or safety. Many are forced to flee and live in unsafe conditions. War often leads to fear, hunger, disease, and the loss of education, especially for children. It also increases the risk of abuse and human rights violations.
How does human trafficking violate victims' human rights?
Victims of human trafficking often suffer from physical and mental abuse, injuries, and diseases. They are usually denied access to healthcare. Trafficked individuals are frequently not given enough food or are forced to work in bad conditions with little or no pay.
Why is healthy mental health important?
Maintaining good mental health is crucial because it impacts every aspect of our lives. It helps us manage stress, make good decisions, build strong relationships, and cope with challenges. When our mental health is strong, we feel more confident, focused, and motivated to reach our goals. It also supports our physical health.
